The way she’s used the wax paper remind me of those honesty seedpods when they have dried out. I also love the way they simply tear open.

You could make these in what ever size you liked for your DIY wedding favors and simply place them on a white plate at each place setting.

Heart Shaped Wedding Cupcakes

by Cindy on February 13, 2011

wedding cup cakes with heart messagesI love these heart cupcakes from lulubellescakes, I think they would be perfect wedding cupcakes. You could add words like I do, marry me, yours forever, your initials, the wedding date and many more personalised messages.

On your candy bar you could have packets of those old fashioned love heart sweets that we all remeber as kids. It would all tie in perfectly with this wedding theme.

brides wedding bouquet in soft pastel colorsThe pastel color theme for these cute wedding cup cakes goes so well with the recent trend for country and vintage style weddings. I’ve been speaking to lots of brides that are going for soft pastel colors this year.

These soft cake colors reminded me of a bouquet I recently made for one of my brides.

In the photo here you can see how I have used the soft creamy ‘Vendela’ rose, the pale pink ‘Heaven’ rose with ivory freesias and pale pink lisianthus. Here are some more of my wedding bouquet designs.

Valentine Heart Wedding Theme

by Cindy on February 12, 2011

Are you getting married over the Valentines weekend? If you are you might think about having a heart theme to your wedding decorations.

diy-valentine-heart-wedding-favor-tutorialI’ve just seen a great DIY wedding template on the Martha Stewart website for these hanging heart favors.

I can just see them hanging off a tree centerpiece a bit like the ones we used to make for Easter. All you would need to do is fill a tall glass vase with long willow branches and hang these gorgeous red and white heart wedding favors from the branches. This would make the perfect centrepiece for a candy bar.

You could then place mason jars and old-fashioned glass sweet jars with different red and white coloured candy around your heart tree centerpiece. You could make candy bags in the same prints as your hanging heart favors for people to fill and take home.

A great wedding theme for all those old romantics.

Kissing Balls For Flower Girls

by Cindy on January 31, 2011

Kissing balls or as they are sometimes called pomander balls make a great wedding accessory for flower girls. They are a popular choice because they are so simple to carry and therefore make them an easy accessory for young girls aged between 3 – 6 years old.

I’ve made many flower kissing balls over the years. You can see one here in this photo above featuring a pearl bead handle and pale pink chrysanthemums. Andrea (the bride) had pearl detailing in all her wedding flowers.

In the photo next to it you can see a moss and orchid pomander ball that I recently made for a winter wedding. Stunning Phalaenopsis orchids and moss featured throughout all of the wedding flowers as the wedding had a winter woodland theme.

Kissing Ball Tutorials

If you would like to have a go at creating your own kissing balls, here are a couple of tutorials that you might find useful.

It is very quick to make and only uses a couple of flowers, so it is quite inexpensive.

It also has the advantage that it is very light to carry, so is ideal if your child is young.

Homegrown Eco-Friendly Wedding Favors

by Cindy on January 28, 2011

Here is another great DIY wedding favor idea for all of you that love to garden, especially if you grow your own veg.

homegrown eco friendly wedding favors for an informal wedding with a green themeI really like the way these green wedding favors feature homegrown herbs and salad in recycled food cans from project wedding. It’s just so simple yet so effective, all you need to do is start cleaning out those old tins, especially the ones with the pretty labels.

You’ll need to work out exactly how long it’s going to take to grow your plants so they look delicious for your wedding day.

This type of wedding favor would be perfect for a rustic country style wedding with a relaxed and informal atmosphere. I can even see them as wedding centerpieces for a casual and eco friendly themed wedding, they would look wonderful placed along the centre of long wooden tressel tables. Ideal for an outside wedding.

Green Wedding Favors

by Cindy on January 23, 2011

Eco friendly wedding favors are a really popular choice right now. I just loved this photo from the decor8blog of these cute little succulent plants.

green wedding favors You can easily create these for yourself, matching the color of your plant or container to your own wedding color theme. I adore the delicate grey tinge to the plant you can see in this photo. I’ve been working with quite a few brides recently with a dull silver grey colour theme.

These cute little wedding favors will look delightful on your wedding tables and give you another table decoration, you could place them on the plates at each place setting.

I did a similar idea for one of my brides recently, all of her wedding flowers that I created featured the beautiful white phalenopsis orchids. For her wedding favors she gave all the ladies a beautiful white pahalenopsis plant to take home. I put the plants in dark green boxes decorated with simple white ribbon bows. I placed them on the chairs around the table as they were too large for the table! What a wonderful gift to receive as a guest.

The great thing about plant wedding favors is that you can make them well in advance as long as you don’t forget to water them! You’ll be surprised how many guests will be telling you that they still have the plants at home growing long after your wedding celebrations are over.

New DIY Tropical Wedding Centerpiece

by Cindy on January 19, 2011

gloriosa flower for a diy tropical wedding centerpieceI love gloriosa flowers, I don’t know if it’s because of their unusual shape or their bright cerise pink and yellow color scheme. Whatever the reason they are one of my favourites and featured in my wedding flowers.

Gloriosa works particularly well in tropical themed wedding flowers. I’ve just finished designing a new DIY tropical wedding centerpiece tutorial which I hope you are going to enjoy.

The tutorial submerges these unusual flowers underwater, which just magnifies their beauty. The great thing about this centerpiece is it’s easy to make and uses very few materials, which makes it inexpensive to create.

Birdcage Centerpieces

by Cindy on January 12, 2011

Are you planning a vintage wedding? If you are you might like this great diy wedding centerpiece idea that features birdcages from the thebridescafe.

an idea for a diy wedding centerpiece featuring birdcadesBirdcages work so well for a vintage wedding theme and this great diy project will allow you to create your own unique centerpiece in your wedding color theme. If you use colors and prints of paper that fit in with your color theme then this centrepiece is going to look fabulous.

I recently created a wedding centrepiece based around twisted willow and hazel branches in a tall clear glass vase. I filled my vases with moss, fircones and bark to fit in with the brides woodland wedding theme. For her wedding centerpieces I attached beautiful palaenopsis orchid flowers to the branches but these cute bird cadges would work equally well. You could even adapt this idea and hang a mixture of bird cadges and ‘free’ birds.

I’ve also done a similar idea for a Christmas wedding and from the branches I hung a variety of unusual Christmas baubles in the brides wedding colours.

Unusual Grey Wedding Color Theme

by Cindy on January 11, 2011

Are you planning to have a grey wedding color theme? I just loved this color board from a creative mint. I’ve worked on quite a few weddings recently where the bridesmaids have worn dresses in soft grey crepe and silk.
planning colors to go with a grey wedding color themeBrides often choose to have white flowers to go with a grey wedding color theme. In the photos below you can see how I have used the grey color on the bouquet handles of these very simple but incredibly effective hydrangea bridesmaid’s bouquets. I also decorated the handle on the flower girls petal basket with grey ribbon bows to match the wedding color theme.

I also really like the soft pink and dusky purple you can see in the color board, they work really well with the grey and add warmth and depth.
